Dialogue Is Basis for Any Political Settlement in Syria: Kazakh President

NEW YORK- President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev asserted that dialogue is the basis for any political settlement to the crisis in Syria.

Nazarbayev, during a UN Security Council session on Non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, said that mutual trust is the basis for dialogue in Astana’s meetings which contributes to the settlement process in Syria and boosts talks in Geneva.”

 He pointed out that participants in Astana’s meetings have affirmed that the meetings were successful and contributed to dealing with many issues.

Eight rounds of talks about the Syrian crisis were held during last year in Astana, the latest of which was in December.
