“Baxi”, a new urban transportation service coming to Damascus City !

Director of Traffic and Transport, Abbullah Abboud, stated that he had collected a plan of a new public transportation service. Abboud assured that the government has already inspected the project and concluded it is applicable in the city of Damascus.

The new urban transportation service coming to the city will aid in the mobilization of people and goods around the city, especially in the old town.

The service’s name “baxi”, came and as an inspiration from the fusion of “taxi” and “bicycle”; given that it is basically an electric powered bicycle handled by a professional licensed driver.

Abboud also confirmed that the baxi drivers will have uniforms and that they will operate on special routes and queues.
