Russian, Chinese Experts Should Join Investigation of Chemical Weapon Use in Syria- Gatilov

MOSCOW, (ST) –  Russia insists that chemical experts from Russia, China and the rest of the International Security Council’s permanent member states should be part of the international team tasked with investigating the use of chemical weapons in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday, referring to the armed terrorist groups’ recent firing of a missile carrying chemical substance against Khan al-Asal neighborhood in Aleppo on March 9th.

On his Twitter page, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Genadi Gatilov said that “a balanced international team of chemical experts may help conduct objective investigation of the incident of using chemical weapons on March 9th in Syria.”

Gatilov reiterated the necessity that the team should include experts representing the UNSC’s five permanent members states including Russia and China.

The Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on March 20 that Syria had asked the UN Chief to form a specialized, independent and unbiased technical team to investigate terrorist groups’ use of chemical weapons in Khal al-Asal. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed then that the “Syrian opposition’s” use of chemical weapon is a very dangerous development in the crisis in Syria.
