The Syrian Government Welcomes Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi, Announces It Will Attend It

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The government of the Syrian Arab Republic welcomes the Syrian National Dialogue Congress due to be held in the Russian city of Sochi and announces it will attend the event, according to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

In a statement to SANA on Sunday, the source said the successive victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army and the allied and supporting forces and have paved the way for progress in the political process and prepared the ground for intra-Syrian dialogue and hence the Syrian government welcomes the National Dialogue Congress to be held in Sochi with a wide participation by the different spectra of the Syrian society and it announces its agreement to attend it.

 The source added that the Syrian government also welcomes the results which will come out of the congress by the committee in charge of discussing the articles of the current constitution and holding legislative elections with the participation of the United Nations in accordance with its charter which is based on respecting countries’ sovereignty and people’s right to self determination.
