Mikdad Stresses Deeply-Rooted Syrian-Algerian Ties

DAMASCUS – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad stressed the solid cooperation between Syria and Algeria which has a key role in supporting joint efforts to eliminate terrorism.

Mikdad was speaking at a reception held by the Algerian Embassy at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus marking the 63rd anniversary of Algerian Revolution against French colonialism, according to SANA.

In a press statement, Mikdad congratulated the Algerian people for achieving victory over injustice and occupation.

 He also highlighted the Syrian army’s achievements all over the Syrian territory, renewing Syria’s stance towards Turkish presence, saying “it is illegitimate, unacceptable and contradicts with Astana targets.”

Mikdad pointed out that all friendly states, particularly Russia and Iran, stressed the need to respect Astana outcomes.

Regarding Moscow’s invitation to hold a Syrian national dialogue conference, Mikdad said that Syria welcomes holding such a conference, considering it a step in the right direction to end the crisis in Syria.
