49 Trucks Carrying Humanitarian, Medical Aid Arrive in Eastern Ghouta

DAMASCUS, (ST)- A convoy of humanitarian and medical aid arrived on Monday in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus Countryside.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent  (SARC) said in a statement on Monday that SARC staff in cooperation with UN led a convoy of 49 trucks carrying humanitarian and medical aid to the towns of Saqba and Kafar Batna in Eastern Ghouta.

The convoy contains 8000 food parcels, 8000 flour bags as well as medicines and medical materials.

 On October 26th, armed groups intercepted humanitarian aid shipments bound to the  people in the towns of Yelda, Babbila and Beit Sahm near Damascus and didn’t allow the convoy to pass, demanding  5000 food parcels as a ransom.

The Syrian government is always keen on ensuring all suitable circumstances to deliver aid to locals in all areas including those held by terrorist groups which block the delivery of humanitarian aid to the locals, attack SARC cars and hinder reconciliation efforts.
