BEIJING, (ST)- The Chinese Foreign Ministry has stressed that any conclusions on the use of chemical weapon in Syria should be based on indisputable evidence.
Commenting on the latest report by the UN and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) on the use chemical weapons in Syria, Spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang said “China’s stance on the use of chemical weapon is clear and firm and we hope that any conclusions in this regard should be based on facts and hard evidence and be in consistent with the principles of objectivity, justice and professionalism.”
A source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed Syria’s rejection to the content of the report, stressing that it came in implementation of the instructions of the US administration and Western countries to exert more political pressures and threats to Syria’s sovereignty.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, on its part, said the report totally ignored conclusions made by Russian specialists and its conclusions were derived by some anonymous research centers and ‘independent experts,’ which lack convincing proof to be backed.
