Sabbagh to Volodin: Non-interference in states affairs and banning financing terrorism

Saint Petersburg – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh has said that his visit to Russia contributes to the consolidation of relations between the two legislative institutions in the two friendly countries.

During his meeting with Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Friday, Sabbagh stressed the need for the agenda of 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to include an article that prohibits interference in the affairs of sovereign states by other members of the international community and discusses the issue of banning financing terrorist organizations, SANA reported.

This is a good initiative and was discussed for the first time during the IPU meeting in Dhaka, Volodin said.

Sabbagh invited Chairman of the Russian State Duma to visit Syria with a Russian parliamentary delegation.

Volodin expressed his thanks for the invitation, saying: “ We accept it and we will choose the appropriate time to pay the visit.”

Earlier in the day, Sabbagh asserted that Syria has always been present at conferences and international circles.

In a statement upon his arrival in Saint Petersburg ,  Sabbagh said that Syria is invited to participate in the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which is going to be held from 14-18 October.
