Starting Wars, Escalating Divisions Benefit No Middle East Country: Rouhani

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has warned of the adverse consequences of starting wars and escalating conflicts in the Middle East, urging all regional countries to make an effort to establish sustainable peace and stability.

“Launching wars and the intensifying regional divisions will not be beneficial to any country and all regional governments must try to establish lasting peace and tranquility,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan in Tehran on Tuesday, according to Press TV.

He pointed to the current situation in some crisis-hit regional countries, including Syria, Yemen and Iraq, and said the settlement of the issues in these states would benefit the entire region.

Iran and Armenia enjoy common stances on regional and international developments and can boost cooperation to solve the current crises in the region, he added.

The Iranian president described as positive cooperation with Yerevan and said, “Iran is determined to expand cooperation and cordial relations with neighboring countries such as Armenia and sets no limitation in this regard.”

Rouhani stressed the importance of making use of bilateral capabilities to improve trade and economic cooperation and serve the two nations’ interest.
