President Al-Assad: Syria Advancing Steadily towards Victory

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that despite the terrorist, military, economic and media war which has been imposed on the Syrian state for almost seven years, Syria is advancing steadily towards victory thanks to the sacrifices of its army, the steadfastness the Syrians and the support of Syria’s friends.

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with a delegation comprising participants in the International Trade Union Conference for Solidarity with Workers and People of Syria against Terrorism, Blockade, Economic Sanctions and Imperial Intervention Policies.

 The president talked about the important role of people’s organizations and social forces in  enhancing awareness about the danger of terrorism which continues spreading in the world including in the countries that supported terrorist organizations. He also talked about the negative impacts of the illegal and immoral economic blockade imposed by some world powers aiming to impose hegemony over the peoples who adhere to their sovereignty and independent decision.

On their part, members of the delegation expressed the solidarity of the workers and the peoples of their countries with Syria in its struggle against terrorism and blockade, asserting that the Syrians’ war on terrorism is very important for the region and the world because it forms a turning point in the history of humanity.

They reiterated the need to unify the efforts of all peace-loving parties and defenders of the international law sovereignty as to confront terrorism. They also stressed the importance of respecting countries’ sovereignty and peoples’ right to self determination.
