Hezbollah’s Top Figure Lauds Syria’s Advances against Daesh in DeirEz-Zor

TEHRAN– Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s second-in-command, Sheikh NaimQassem, praised recent advances achieved by the Syrian army and resistance forces against Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorists in Deirez-Zor and said the liberation of the city amounts to the collapse of Daesh.

“The preparations for the political settlement of the Syrian crisis have begun unofficially,” Sheikh Qassem said in a televised interview on Sunday, according to Tasnim News Agancy.

The cleric further pointed to the recent advances of the Syrian and resistance forces and said the approaching liberation of Deirez-Zor amounts to “the final victory” over Daesh terrorists.

Sheikh Qassem also hailed close cooperation between the Hezbollah resistance forces and the Syrian army in the liberation of areas along the border between Lebanon and Syria and said “the good coordination” made the victory possible.

Syrian government troops on Tuesday broke through the defenses of the Daesh terrorists on the outskirts of Deirez-Zor and broke the three-year siege of the city.

In a televised speech on August 31, Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah announced that Lebanon’s soil has been fully liberated from the extremist elements.
