Finance Minister: The Strength of the Syrian Economy Helped Financial Institutes Continue to Working
Damascus, (ST) – The Banking, Insurance and Finance pavilion at the 59th session of Damascus International Fair offers the services and advantages of public and private banks and insurance companies from transfers, account opening, deposits of all kinds, bank guarantees, ATM cards and ATM services to citizens.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mamoun Hamdan, said during his visit to the pavilion that the banks have a big and decisive role in any economy in the world because in any crisis gets to the economy in any country, the first affected sector is the financial one, especially banks and insurance companies.
Dr. Hamdan explained that despite the global war on Syria, no bank or insurance company withdraw from Syria in a sign of the strength of Syrian economy, referring that 6 government banks and 12 private ones are still working.
The Minister revealed that the Syrian banks are preparing for the process of lending on sound bases to support agricultural, industrial and service production, stressing that the lending process in its final stages and soon will resume all types of loans to support the production process.
Regarding the Damascus International Fair, Dr. Hamdan stressed that the strength of the Syrian economy helped to exist the fir, indicating that the process is reciprocal, an exhibition of this size with the participation of 43 countries in addition to hundreds of companies from around the world is an evidence of this force and the success of Syria politically and economically.
He pointed out that there are hundreds of exhibitions that will be held after the end of Damascus International Fair throughout the year for textile, food, stationery and other products on the ground of the fir.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Commercial Bank of Syria Ayman Al-Najem pointed out that it is the first participation of the bank in the Damascus International Fair, providing an explanation of banking services in all its forms and types provided by the bank.
