Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Tourism, Eng. Bisher Yazigi, discussed with a delegation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce the forms of tourism cooperation between Syria and Egypt and means of enhancing them, especially with the existence of distinguished tourist areas in both countries.
During the meeting held at the ministry, Mr. Al–Yaziji pointed out that the visit of the Egyptian delegation will be “a spark for the start of work with Egypt on a wide level in various fields to establish a new phase in cooperation with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce”.
Mr. Al –Yazigi stressed that despite difficulties, pulse of life never stopped in Syria where the tourism sector has recently witnessed a state of recovery through the rehabilitation and opening of tourism facilities and the establishment of projects.”
The Minister pointed to the importance of the Egyptian pavilion at the Damascus international exhibition, saying that the Egyptian participation is a “strong message” for cooperation between Syrian and Egyptian businessmen, especially that the government is ready to provide various necessary facilities.
For his part, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Ahmad Al-Wakil said that the presence of the Egyptian pavilion at the Damascus International Fair is “a message to the Syrian people and a message of congratulations to Syria.”
Mr. Al-Wakil pointed to the keenness of Egyptian businessmen to be present with their Syrian partners at the opening of the Damascus International Fair, stressing that the work for the next phase will be to cooperate extensively in the reconstruction of Syria.
He confirmed that the delegation will convey the ideas of cooperation, tourism plans and programs that were presented during the meeting in addition to the facilitations the Syrian government offers to investment projects to workers in the tourism investment sector in Egypt, hoping that there will be good steps for tourism development in both countries and for planning joint tourism programs.
The meeting was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Syria Mohammad Tharwat Salim and the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Ghassan Al-Qalaa.
