Iraq war criminals continue crimes in Syria: Saeb Shaath

A political analyst says an international tribunal needs to try the war criminals of the US-led invasion of Iraq as they continue war crimes in Syria.

A recent poll has found that one in two Britons believe the US-led invasion of Iraq damaged Britain’s reputation, further reaffirming the extent of public outrage against the illegal war in 2003. The poll was led by King’s College London (KCL) and Ipsos Mori and it was held ahead of March 20, which marks the tenth anniversary of the invasion. The study found that 40 percent of Britons said the invasion had made the world a more dangerous place.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Saeb Shaath, author and Middle East affairs expert from Belfast, to further discuss the issue of the US-led invasion of Iraq. The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Now Mr. Shaath we know that in the UK itself we’ve seen probes take place on this, we’ve seen enquiries take place, but no conclusive remarks or results coming out of those enquires. But what the British public is saying in one poll is that more than half believe that Blair should be tried. Do you think that is now a real option and that it could happen?

Shaath: I hope so since we noticed the US and NATO criminal military genocide campaign in Iraq from 2003 to 2012. At least one million Iraqi civilians, men, women and children were killed compared to [the death of] nearly 4,500… US troops and some British troops.

These lies or fabrication of that… genocide was and is still being committed right now in different areas in the world.

The criminals in Washington and London and other capitals are still carrying [out] the same sort of actions in Afghanistan and Libya.

The truth is censored, and today even the anti-war movement and activists who filled the streets of the UK from London to Derry in Ireland as well.

These activists in all the western hemisphere are silent today about what is going on or about even putting Tony Blair and the gang into court and try them for the crimes they committed.

I wonder are they buying these activists and these anti-war movement organizations, the official narrative of the lies and fabrications told by the war criminals, who are committing right now the same war crimes in Syria?

These military campaigns have sent our human civilization into reverse discourse.

I can see with such a criminal military campaign that is taking the lives of people in developing countries all over, we truly discovered there is no real meaning of terms of such an international community or international law and the basic human rights of people around the third world are not guaranteed or protected.
