Al-Jaafari: Economic sanctions imposed on Syrian people created difficulties that impede implementation of humanitarian plans

New York – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said that the unilateral economic measures imposed on the Syrian people were behind the negative repercussions that created difficulties that impede the implementation of humanitarian plans, SANA reported.

In a statement at the UN Security Council’s session on the situation in Syria on Thursday, al-Jaafari said that the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in some Syrian areas was because of the presence of terrorist organizations and the clashes them and their prevention to the entry of humanitarian materials.

He added that the Syrian government spares no effort to improve the lives of citizens in all regions without discrimination, adding that the depth of the humanitarian crisis was the result of the continuation of some regional and international parties who block all political solutions.

Al-Jaafari said that international officials have confirmed that some officials at the UN Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) provoke against the Syrian government and claim that there is no need to coordinate with it, noting that those who prepared the monthly report ignored what the US-led coalition has done by targeting the Syrian infrastructure and the use of incendiary weapons.

He added that responsibility for imposing the siege on areas classified by the report as besieged falls upon armed terrorist organizations that take civilians as human shields and prevent access to humanitarian aid.
