Syrian-Iranian Deeply Rooted Relations Strong Barrier against Conspiracies Targeting Axis of Resistance

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Imad Khamis and the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari discussed boosting political and economic ties between Syria and Iran.

The premier expressed the Syrian government and people’s gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for all its support for the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the confrontation of the ongoing terrorist war and the unfair economic siege and sanctions imposed on Syria.

The deeply-rooted relations between the two countries formed a strong barrier in the face of the conspiracies which have sought weakening the axis of resistance in the service of Israel and its expansionist and colonialist schemes in the region, said Khamis.

 He affirmed the importance of constant coordination and cooperation between the economic sectors in both countries as to lay solid foundation for diverse economic ties that include investment, production and agreements.

He also stressed the need to reactivate the joint Syrian-Iranian Higher Committee and the Syrian-Iranian businessmen Council and to encourage trade visits between the two sides, noting the existence of a vision as to establish a joint economic structure and a new vision for investment partnership between the two countries.

On his part, Jaberi Ansari hailed the all-out economic vision on relations between Syria and Iran, stressing the importance of enhancing the achievements via work in accordance with a strategic policy based on constant cooperation lines between the government parties and the private sectors’ economic activities in both countries.

He noted procedures taken to implement the economic agreements signed between the two countries and to boost economic cooperation, referring to the participation of the Iranian companies in Damascus International Fair next month.

Al-Moallem, Jaberi Ansari Stress Need of Deepening Coordination

Earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem received Jaberi Ansari and the accompanying delegation to exchanged views on the current developments in Syria and the outcomes of the fifth round of Astana meeting and the seventh round of the intra- Syrian dialogue in Geneva.

Talks focused on the deep strategic ties between Tehran and Damascus and means to enhance them in different domains. They also dealt with the developments in the region, mainly in the occupied Palestinian territories and Iraq.

The two sides stressed the importance of deepening coordination in the coming era .

Al-Moallem reviewed Syria efforts to fight terrorist organizations and their supporters that are seeking destroying Syria in the service of Israel.

Al-Moallem hailed the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army in cooperation with the allies and friends and stressed that Syria will continue its war on terrorists relentlessly, in parallel with its continued efforts to reach a solution to the crisis that maintains its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

In this context, al-Moallem hailed the support provided by Iran for Syria in various areas as to confront the terrorist war imposed on the Syrian people.

For his part, Jaberi Ansari affirmed that Iran will continue to support Syria until achieving victory and restoring peace and stability to the entire Syrian territory, stressing the importance of reaching a solution to the crisis in Syria without foreign interference.

He also highlighted the importance of Iranian-Syrian-Russian coordination to reach a political solution in Syria.

Both al-Moallem and Jaberi Ansari strongly condemned the measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem and their closing of al-Aqsa Mosque and preventing worshipers from praying there, holding the Israeli authorities accountable for the dangerous repercussions that could result from these measures and for anything that happens to the mosque and for the attempts at judaizing Jerusalem and obliterating its Palestinian identity.

The two officials also reviewed the victories achieved by the Iraqi army and the People’s Mobilization Forces against ISIS terrorist organizations, extending congratulations to the people and government of Iraq on the great victory in Mosul city.

Earlier on the day, Deputy minister of Foreign and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad met with Jaberi Ansari and the delegation accompanying him and discussed with them the bilateral strategic relations between Iran and Syria and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
