Baghdad, (ST) – The headquarters of the Iraqi-Syrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was opened here yesterday in Baghdad. This step was taken to support and strengthen economic relations and coordination to increase the volume of trade and investment exchange
In a statement to Syrian Arab Television, Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad Sattam Jad’an al-Dandh said that the foundation of this chamber comes in response to the desire of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the two countries to develop and develop commercial and industrial relations between them.
“We seek to create great opportunities for Iraqi and Syrian businessmen to exchange visits and participate in conferences and forums held in Baghdad or Damascus in order to give a strong impetus to the strategic partnership that has been achieved between the two countries,” head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and Industry Jafar al-Hamdani said in a statement.
Mr. Al-Hamdani said that this step to participate in the activities of the 59th session of the Damascus International Fair on August 17.
Chairman of the Joint Iraqi-Syrian Chamber of Commerce and IndustrySadiq Abbas pointed out that the establishment of this chamber aims to consolidate the strategic relationship between the two countries through the supply of Syrian goods and products that have priority in the Iraqi market for their quality and the Iraqi demand for them.
The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the Iraqi Chambers signed a protocol to establish the Syrian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce at the beginning of this year, which provides for the opening of markets for Syrian and Iraqi products and exports and to develop the quality of the product through exhibitions,exchange of marketing publicity and introducing the laws and regulations in force in both countries related to economic and investment activities to identify the privileges granted to investors and activate the exchange of visits of businessmen and facilitate the granting of visas to enter both countries.
