Army thwarts ISIS terrorists’ attack in Deir Ezzor, kills scores of them

Deir EzzorUnits of Army and Armed Forces operating in Deir Ezzor, backed by the air force, thwarted an attack by ISIS terrorists on the southern axis of Deir Ezzor city, inflicting heavy losses upon their ranks and equipment.

Large groups of ISIS terrorists attacked, during last night and at Friday’s dawn, al-Tanmia Barrier and a number of the hills in the area surrounding al-Panorama and Regiment 137 in an attempt to control those areas as they were confronted by the army units operating in the area, killing and injuring many of the terrorists, according to SANA.

 SANA affirmed that the army units thwarted the attack completely and prevented terrorist groups from achieving any progress on the ground in parallel with the sorties of Syrian air force on the supply routes of terrorists coming from al-Bghailieh village and Wadi al-Tharda.

SANA added that the sorties also targeted a number of terrorists’ dens and gatherings in al-Janina, the graveyards, the area surrounding al-Panorama and Jdaidit al-Ekidat, destroying a command site for ISIS and 3 vehicles in addition to killing a number of terrorists, most of them are mercenaries of foreign nationalities.
