Russia to Urge Security Council to Convene over New US-Led Coalition’s Aggression on Syrian Army Site

MOSCOW, (ST)- Franz Klintsevich, Deputy Chairman of the Russian federation Council’s Defense and Security Committee, announced on Tuesday that Russia will ask the Security Council to convene urgently following the airstrike carried out by the illegal US-led Coalition against a Syrian army position in Homs eastern countryside.

Klintsevich, according to Sputnik, said the strike proved the direct involvement of the US-led coalition in the armed conflict in Syria. It is an act of aggression and Russia will immediately call for holding an urgent Security Council meeting to discuss this issue, he added.

Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the international coalition hit one of the Syrian military sites southeastern Syria near al-Tanf.

Unjustified Aggression

Head of the Russian Federation Council’s Committee for Defense and Security Victor Ozerov described the international coalition’s aggression on Syrian army forces as “unjustified”, because “the Syrian government forces were attacked without posing any clear threat to the coalition forces”.

On his part, deputy Chairman of the Security Committee at the Duma Council Andrey Krasov said that this aggression “benefited the terrorists and it was illegal.”
