US-Led Coalition Airstrike against Syrian Army Position Reaffirms Its Support for Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The US-led Coalition warplanes yesterday evening attacked a Syrian Arab army position on al-Tanf road in al-Shehemeh area in Homs eastern countryside, a military source said Tuesday, adding that a number of soldiers were martyred and material damage was caused to the site.

“The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces stresses that the Syrian Arab army and its allies are determined to continue the war on terrorist organizations, namely Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra, and to expel the terrorists from the entire Syrian territory,” the source told SANA.

“The new aggression of the so-called international coalition affirms once again the coalition’s member states’ support for terrorism amid daily achievements by the Syrian Arab army and its allies in the battle against Daesh terror organization,” clarified the source.

According to the source, the army general command warns against the danger and repercussions of this escalation and calls on the so-called US-led coalition to stop such aggressive acts under whatever pretext.

On May 18, the Washingto-led coalition attacked one of the Syrian army’s military points on al-Tanf road in the Syrian Badia claiming the lives of a number of people and causing some material damage.

Since its establishment in August 2014, the US has been leading an international coalition under the pretext of fighting Daesh terror organization in Syria and Iraq. It carried out thousands of airstrikes, but failed to stop the expansion of the takfiri organization or achieve any gains on ground because of its non seriousness about fighting terrorism and because of the lack of coordination with the governments of the two countries.

The coalition, which has  been carrying out airstrikes without any authorization from the Syrian government or a UN mandate, has committed tens of massacres in Raqqa, Hassaka, Deir Ezzour and Aleppo countryside under the pretext of fighting Daesh inside Syria. Hundreds of civilians were victims of the coalition’s airstrikes.
