Efforts to Clear Barzeh from Armed Groups Continue within Framework of Settlement Agreement

Damascus, (ST)-The process of evacuating the gunmen and their family members, who refuse to join the settlement agreement in Barzeh district, to Syria’s northern countryside continued today within the framework of efforts to making Barzeh completely clear of weapons and gunmen.

Damascus Governor said in a statement to reporters that “today the fourth phase of the settlement agreement will be implemented by the departure of a new batch of gunmen”.

The process will continue until all gunmen leave in order to prepare for the return of state institutions to the district, added the governor.

According to SANA reporter, a number of buses gathered in Barzeh to move the fourth batch of gunmen and some members of their families to the Syrian northern countryside. Ten days earlier, the third phase of the agreement was implemented through the departure of 2672 people including 1076 gunmen from the district.

The Syrian government is keen on enhancing local reconciliations in all parts of the country in parallel with the Syrian army’s operations to uproot takfiri terrorism and restore security and stability to the entire Syrian territory.
