MADRID, (ST)- Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan has stressed that the crisis in Syria has deepened divisions in the Middle East and in other parts of the world, affirming that maintaining diversity and coexistence in the Middle East plays a key role in restoring security to the region.
Nalbandyan, who was speaking during the opening session of the International Ministerial Conference on ” victims of ethnic and religious violence in the Middle East” in Madrid on Wednesday, said that his country will continue to provide humanitarian support to people who need in Syria.
He reiterated that religion has nothing to do with violence and that what is happening in the Middle East has to do with crimes against humanity perpetrated by Daesh and other terrorist organizations.
“Barbarism has declared war on the civilized world, thereby threatening human existence and civilization, ” said Nalbandyan, asserting the importance of united efforts to deal with humanitarian issues.
The Armenian top diplomat pointed out that the deeply-rooted diversity and coexistence in the Middle East has been a very important value in civilization and a basic element in security as well.
He urged supporting all efforts dedicated to revive the societies damaged by violence regardless political and religious differences.
Nalbandyan went on to say that the return of foreign terrorists from the Middle East countries to their own homelands poses serious threat to the entire world.
Representatives 56 countries plus several international and regional organizations took part in the conference.
