Government supports newly-formed parties, says PM

DAMASCUS,(ST)_The political plan-committee conferred on Sunday with Secretary General of the Arab Socialist Union Party and its politburo’s members to bring about new ideas about national dialogue process.

The gathering, which SANA described as “fruitful”, dealt with different ideas to translate national dialogue’s goal into action.

Premier Dr. Wael al-Halqi, who chairs the ministerial committee tasked with implementing the endorsed political plan, talked in the gathering about the government’s support for the newly-formed parties.

“The newly-formed parties, along with the Progressive National Front’s parties and the NGOs, push forward the democratic political movement based on national principle, not meddling in Syria’s internal affairs, and restoration of stability and security all over the country,” the PM said.

The premier also talked about results of the previous talks held between the committee and different parties.

Al-Halqi noted that only wisdom could make the dialogue success.

In addition, he underscored that the government’s priority is to ensure citizens’ requirements to enhance their steadfastness, keep the national economy strong and combat corruption.

The Arab Socialist Union Party’s Secretary General, Safwan Qudsi, stressed the party’s support for the political plan and measures being adopted by the government to make it success in order to save the country.

He criticized the previous economic policies that led to increase poverty among people of low-income in the country.

The party’s members presented their viewpoint about means of enhancing dialogue through studying the ongoing crisis, holding talks with all Syrian components, combatting corruption, and reactivating role of the PNF’s parties.

Thus far, the ministerial committee held 26 meetings (including today’s meeting) with political parties.

It includes Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Ministers of Information, Justice, National Reconciliation, Transport, Industry, Red Crescent Affairs, and People’s Assembly Affairs.
