All Media Outlets, Including in the United States, Are Subject to Censorship: al-Mikdad

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The public opinion inside and outside the United States has been misled by the lies and pretexts created to justify the American aggression on al-Shairat airfield in Syria’s Homs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad has stressed.

Al-Mikdad, who was speaking on Monday in a debate on “Diplomacy in the Media” during the 1st National Media Conference, reaffirmed that there are no chemical weapons in Syria.

Al-Mikdad, being the head of the national committee in charge of implementing Syria’s obligations towards the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), said that Syria, in accordance with the CWC, has handed over all the chemical materials to the western countries because they have the needed money and knowledge to receive and eliminate these materials.

He pointed out that all the media outlets in the world are subject to censorship including that of the United States which has recently suffered a setback because of its lack of credibility and biased stances, stressing that censorship practiced on the American media is not much less than that practiced in other countries of the world.

“No western journalist dares writing against Israel or about the Weapons of Mass Destruction Israel possesses. But, we can every day find tens of pages of western newspapers that deal with the issue of the alleged chemical weapon in Syria,” clarified al-Mikdad, pointing out that this again doesn’t only indicate the west’s double standard policy, but also proves that the West wants to implement its policies through the media.

“The West often depends on what Western intelligence-linked media outlets say as to wage whole wars on countries,” al-Mikdad affirmed, noting that the western countries which claim protecting democracy and freedoms, lie to their people about many issues.
