Evacuation of New Batch of Gunmen and Their Families from Homs’ al-Waer Neighborhood

Homs– The evacuation of a new batch of militants and their family members from al-Waer neighborhood in Homs city began on Monday afternoon as per the reconciliation agreement for clearing the neighborhood of weapons and militants and restoring state establishments to it, SANA reported.

SANA’s correspondent in Homs reported that a number of buses carrying militants who reject the agreement and some of their family members have exited the neighborhood as per the schedule for implementing the agreement, adding that the evacuation will continue until this batch, which is the fifth, is completed.

Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi said that more than 400 militants are scheduled to leave the neighborhood along with family members and head to the northeastern countryside of Aleppo, affirming that the agreement is proceeding as scheduled and it should be implemented fully by the end of the month, at which point repairs to the infrastructure and facilities in the neighborhood can begin.

The fourth batch of militants and their family members exited the neighborhood on April 8th.

On a relevant note, the authorities in Homs settled the legal status of 544 persons from al-Waer neighborhood as per the reconciliation agreement.
