Shaaban Affirms Constant Syrian-Russian-Iranian Coordination in Fight against Terrorism

MOSCOW, (ST)- The tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Syria, Russia and Iran in Moscow on Friday was a message of support for Syria and a message of rejection to the American aggression on the country, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban has underscored, noting the constant coordination between the three countries on all developments, particularly cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

In a press conference today at the Russian Sputnik News Agency’s headquarters, Shaaban said the American aggression on Syria was dangerous and unjustified as it came after the alleged chemical incident in Khan Sheikhoun was fabricated and prepared to blame the Syrian government and this was done in parallel with a huge western media campaign against Syria.

She clarified that the United States tries to stick to the idea that it is the only dominating power in the world and it seeks pressuring Russia at all positions although the system of unilateralism has come to an end.

The presidential advisor reaffirmed that Syria doesn’t possess any chemical weapon as confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapon (OPCW) in 2014, pointing out that developments over the past days were reminiscent of the invasion of Iraq in 2003 when the U.S. and the West claimed that Iraq possesses Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)  in order to justify attacking and occupying Iraq.

Shaaban went on to say that Syria is being exposed to systematic destruction targeting its infrastructure and civilization by some regimes supporting and sponsoring terrorism namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey with an American-European cover.

“This war couldn’t have been occurred without the long opened borders with Turkey from where most terrorists and weapon have flowed into Syria,” Shaaban said, adding that the Turkish regime is still playing a very destructive role in Syria, thereby hindering political solution efforts in Astana and Geneva and that the Israeli occupation entity also continues to provide support for terrorists in the southern part of  Syria.

Shaaban asserted that Syria has responded positively to all the initiatives that aimed at reaching political solution to the crisis, but the terrorists and their masters don’t want to reach the political solution, rather they seek destroying Syria. She pointed out that the terrorist groups haven’t committed themselves to implementing the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria and they have been responsible for prolonging the war and the suffering of the Syrian.
