Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic: US Aggression on Syrian Airbase Irresponsible Reckless Behavior

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic has described the United States’ aggression today dawn on al-Shairat airbase in Homs countryside as “an irresponsible reckless behavior that indicates short-sightedness as well as political and military blindness.”

It is a naive response to a feverish lying and illusive anti-Syria campaign that fed the American regime’s arrogance to carry out such an irresponsible political and military act, the presidency said in a statement published on its facebook page on Friday.

The presidency statement  said the US disgraceful act  of targeting an airbase of a sovereign country, once again, provides a clear-cut evidence of the correctness of what Syria has repeatedly said about the fact that the successive administrations of the American regime doesn’t change its deep policies in targeting countries, subjugating peoples and attempting to dominate the world.  

 “If the American regime thinks that by this aggression it has supported its agents and terrorist gangs and organizations working on ground in Syria, the Syrian Arab Republic frankly affirms that this aggression will strengthen Syria’s determination to strike and smash these terrorist agents wherever they exist in the Syrian territories,” the presidency statement added.

People’s Assembly condemns US aggression

The People’s Assembly (PA) condemned in the strongest terms the US heinous aggression against one of the Syrian airbases in the central region, stressing that this flagrant attack comes to defend the terrorists and raise their collapsed morale.

In a statement, the PA said “the United States, the key sponsor of terrorism in the world, has started to practice terrorism against Syria after its terrorist tools have received successive defeats under the strikes of the Syrian army.”

The statement added that exploiting the alleged using of toxic materials in Khan Sheikhoun  as a pretext to launch this aggression explains who actually planned and committed  this crime against the Syrian people, particularly because the accusation was prepared in advance against the Syrian state minutes after the crime was perpetrated.

Shaaban: US aggression an attempt to save terrorists

The Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban said that the US attack on the Syrian airbase is an aggression on all the forces fighting terrorism and an attempt to save the terrorists who are targeting the Syrian people.

The American aggression, which was carried out under allegations and pretexts of using chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun area in Idleb countryside, was actually motivated by the victories of the Syrian Arab army against the terrorists of Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra, Shaaban told the Beirut-based “al-Mayadeen” TV in a phone call.

She noted the clear contradiction in the stances of the United States and the West, in addition to Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which claim that they are fighting terrorism while at the same time trying to save the terrorists and encourage them after every loss they suffer.

She pointed out that Syria will back the Russian proposal to hold an urgent Security Council session to condemn the American aggression on a sovereign state, reiterating that Syria will press ahead with fighting terrorism and with uncovering the lies and pretexts adopted by the West to destroy countries.

Shaaban, who welcomed some western states’ honorable stances against the US aggression on Syria,  stressed that the Israeli enemy, which works in constant coordination with the Gulf regimes, is the first beneficiary from the war on Syria.

Information Minister: New American Aggression on Syria Supports Terrorism

Minister of Information Mohammad Ramez Turjman has stressed that the new American aggression on Syria is an attempt to support terrorism and it comes after  the huge loss inflicted upon terrorists under the strikes of the Syrian Arab army in different Syrian areas.

In a statement to the Syrian TV on Friday, Turjman said the pretext used by the United States to justify its aggression on Syria, which is the alleged using of chemical weapons, is a “very ridiculous play”, reiterating that the aggression won’t weaken the determination of the Syrian Arab Army to continue carrying out its duty in fighting and eliminating terrorism.

 The minister pointed out that the American aggression came after the Syrian Arab army’s remarkable victories in its war on terrorism, after the achievement of local reconciliation in several Syrian areas and the progress in the political track to find settlement in the country.

He clarified that the United States is practicing its arrogance in blatant violation of international laws and conventions.

Homs Governor Talal barazi, on his part, said that the US aggression constitutes a desperate attempt to weaken the ability and determination of the Syrian army to fight  the foreign-backed takfiri terrorism and to weaken the Syrian people’s support for their army and leadership.

The General Command of the Syrian Arab Army and Armed Forces declared that the United States carried a flagrant  aggression at dawn today against a Syrian military Airbase in the central region of Syria causing the martyrdom of 9 persons, injuring scores  and inflicting heavy material damage in the targeted site.
