ANKARA,(ST)_ Chairman of the Turkish Republican Party CHP, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, stressed that policies of government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan towards Syria is a failure and dangerous.
Kilicdaroglu added that several days earlier Erdogan admitted the failure of this policy, when he accused the world and his allies in the west of the lack of attention to the crisis in Syria, with few countries remaining on the arena, namely Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, recalling Erdogan earlier statement in which he was proud that he can do whatever he wants in the Middle East and the Muslim world.
“No one in the Middle East respects Turkey because of this government’s policies on Syria.” The Turkish opposition leader said.
He explained that his party seeks to get things back to normal in the Turkish-Syrian relations and open the border between the two countries so as relatives in the two sides can meet for the benefit of the two peoples as it was two years ago.
He indicated that the visit of the CHP delegation to Syria aims to restore the true voice of Turkey to the region and to ensure Turkey’s proper dignity and reputation.
Responding to Erdogan angry criticism to the CHP over its visit to Syria and meeting with President Bashar al-Assad on Friday, he said: “The whole world knows why the Turkish delegation visited Syria, but it seems that Erdogan does not want to understand or realize facts” regretting Erdogan ‘s anger over the visit .
He stressed that the CHP is contacting President al-Assad and the opposition, alike because it seeks to halt violence and attain peace and stability in Syria.
“Today is the International Women’s Day and we should care about women’s issues as there are lot of Syrian women among the displaced in Turkey.” He emphasized.
Worthy mentioning that Turkish media and Internet sites gave wide coverage to President al- Assad statements during the meeting with Turkish parliamentary delegation .
