Syria Participates in Cultural Activity in Vienna

Syria has participated in a cultural activity organized by a diplomatic international magazine in Vienna.

The activity, held Saturday by the ‘Society’ magazine under the banner “The Great Silk Road and Golden Seasons’, exhibited traditional artifacts, antiquities, photos, books on historical heritage of participating countries, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency quoted Syria’s Ambassador to Austria Bassam al-Sabbagh as saying during the opening ceremony that Syria is the cradle of civilization and it is located in the heart of the old world and it is a symbol of co-existence.

“Throughout the ages, Syria has been a main historical, geographical and economical element in the silk road and it has been a center for passage of commercial convoys between the East and the West,” al-Sabbagh added.

The international ‘Society’ magazine focused during the activity on Austria’s interest in playing a key role in reviving the Silk Road through making Vienna the central axis of this project.

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Syria are the countries participated in the activity and some of them performed traditional music.

Representative of 30 embassies and associations also took part in the activity.
