White House: US Must Focus on Ousting Daesh from Region not on Future of Syrian President

WASHINGTON-The White House spokesman Sean Spicer has states that the United States “needs to accept” the Political realities on the ground in Syria, namely, that Bashar al-Assad is the sovereign country’s president and leader, according to Sputnik.

” Rather, the US must concentrate on ousting Daesh from the region,” Spicer added in a daily news conference on Friday.

“We believe there’s a need to de-escalate violence,” in Syria, Spicer noted.

“With respect to Assad, there is a political reality that we have to accept in terms of where we are right now,” he said.

The US maintains “profound priorities” in Syria and Iraq, according to the White House, Spicer told reporters that overthrowing President Assad will not be on that list of priorities, but “the defeat of ISIS,” also known as Daesh, “is foremost among those priorities”.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Thursday stressed that the future of President al-Assad will be determined by the Syrian people.

The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, explicated that Washington’s priorities will no longer be to sit there and focus on the future of the Syrian President.

Jean-Marc Ayrault, the French Foreign Minister, stressed on Friday the importance of finding political solution to the crisis in Syria, affirming the need not to concentrate on the future of the Syrian president to reach an agreement on a solution in the country.
