Czech National Museum to Help Rehabilitate Damaged Monuments in Syria

PRAGUE- Director-General of Czech National Museum Michal Lukeš has declared that Syria is the cradle of civilization and it is a wonderful place full of monuments that date back to thousands of years, indicating that the museum will help rehabilitate some monuments damaged by terrorism, especially in Palmyra city [Tadmor].

He visited Damascus last autumn and agreed with Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums to cooperate in field of rehabilitation, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

 The agency quoted Head of Foreign Relations in the museum Christina Kvabilova as saying that the first batch of aid containing materials to rehabilitate monuments will be sent to Syria soon.

“This year, Prague will host an exhibition on Syrian monuments damaged by terrorist organizations,” she added.

Last January, ISIS terrorists destroyed the façade of the Roman Theatre and the Tetrapylon in ancient Palmyra city [They recaptured the city in December for the second time after it was liberated by the Syrian Arab army and allied forces last March.
