Arab, Iranian Bussinessmen’s Participation in “Syria Moda” Exhibition Affirms Their Support for Syrians against Sanctions

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Imad Khamis has stressed that the participation of the Arab and Iranian businessmen in the activities of the “Syria Moda” for Clothing Exhibition , currently held in Damascus, is very important as it expresses the businessmen’s support for the Syrian state and people against the western economic sanctions imposed on the Syrians.  

Khamis made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with a delegation representing Arab and Iranian businessmen taking part in the exhibition.

“It is a message to all countries that Syria has decided to continue work and production and to organize wider exhibitions as to provide an opportunity for businessmen from other countries to participate,” said the prime minister.

 Fighting terrorism in parallel with rebuilding the country

He urged the businessmen to carry out investment projects given the government’s encouraging procedures and facilitations in this domain.

Khamis, who affirmed the government’s determination to continue  fighting terrorism in parallel with rebuilding the country, said the government is ready to give facilitations to all Syrian businessmen living abroad and willing to return to the homeland as to take part in the country’s production and development process.

Businessmen: Syria is Okay

On their part, the businessmen underscored that organizing the exhibition is considered a success for the Syrian state and it carries a clear message to all that Syria is okay and that production continues with full support from the government. They noted the facilitations provided to Iraqi traders to transport goods.

The businessmen pointed out that Syria is a key source of high quality clothing, asserting that the situation in Syria is completely different from the image promoted abroad about the country by misleading media outlets. They affirmed the need to reactivate trade exchange among Arab countries.

Some Algerian businessmen asked for providing banking facilitations because of the difficulties they face in bank transfers from Algeria  to Syria and vice versa. They also urged establishing a shipping line from Lattakia to Algiers.

Also, Libyan businessmen demanded providing facilitations to establish factories in Syria.

Syrian Industry is back

Following the meeting, some businessmen told reporters that the “Syria Moda” exhibition is important to show the world that the Syrian industry is back. It represents  a strong start for restoring trade relations between Syria and Arab countries, they said, urging Arab businessmen to visit Syria.
