Damascus,(ST) – Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Eng. Emad Khamis, the Syria Mod exhibition will be held with the participation of some 200 Syrian companies on March 26 and 28 at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.
In a statement to local press, Eng. Khamis pointed out that “the country has begun to take the course of recovery and harvesting fruits will not be far away.”
Eng, Khamis clarified the recovery of exhibitions industry including “Syria Mod” and Khan al Harir Exhibition and the reopening of the Damascus International Fair this summer after a five-year stop is a direct indication of the success of the government’s policy of leading the production process correctly by supporting production stages, ensuring sufficient flexibility to respond to the repercussions and effects of the crisis and launching reconstruction which means the ability to deal with the requirements of reconstruction in a balanced manner.
Eng. Khamis noted the ability of the industrial sector, particularly the textile sector, to overcome the consequences of the crisis and return to its former role even through small workshops.
Without the government’s recognition of the importance of securing the necessary support and providing it immediately and the will to work, Damascus would not witness textile exhibitions or open its doors to hundreds of suppliers from different Arab countries, the Premier said.
He explained that the Syria Mod exhibition spring and summer 2017 is a clear and direct declaration of the recovery of the Syrian textile industry, especially in light of the government’s interest in the industry sector to ensure all its requirements, pointing to the government support for the industry exhibitions to be a mirror of the recovery of Syrian industry and other productive and service sectors.
The exhibition will open its doors welcoming its local, Arab and foreign visitors and display the pride of the Syrian textile industry of clothing and production supplies. Free transportation was provided for visitors from outside Syria. The exhibition is expected to witness intensive meetings between Syrian producers, industrialists, businessmen and traders who will come to Syria from Iraq, Algeria Yemen, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Gulf countries and others.
The exhibition will be accompanied by cultural events entitled “Returning of Old Days”, which is scheduled to take place at the Opera House.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian textile industry currently attracts 50 to 60 percent of the labor force in the private industrial sector. It also constitutes 50 percent of the Syrian industry. It contributes to about 60 percent of the private sector’s exports.
