Astana Hosts Third Meeting on Syria on March 14-15

ASTANA, (ST)-The Kazakh capital, Astana, is due on March 14 and 15 to host a third meeting on crisis in Syria, according to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic led by Dr,. Bashar Al-Jaafari arrived today in Astana to take part in the meeting.

AFP quoted Osama Abu Zeid, spokesman of the armed groups, which were invited to participate in Astana meeting as saying that the groups decided not to take part in the third Astana meeting, claiming that the cessation of hostilities agreement was not implemented.

 The terrorist groups participating in Astana meeting constantly violate the cessation of hostilities agreement and continue to shed the blood of the Syrians.

On March 9th, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s media department said in a statement that “the coming international meeting on Syria in Astana will be of high level and it will be held on March 14 and 15.”

According to the statement, the first day will focus on holding preliminary consultations, while the second will be dedicated to the plenary session of talks.

High ranking delegations from Russia, Iran and Turkey will attend the session in addition to representatives of the United Nations, the United States and Jordan, the statement clarified.
