Syria Occupies Priority As Regards Humanitarian Aid Provided by Czech Republic: Senior Diplomat

PRAGUE, (ST)- Deputy Czech Foreign Minister Martin Tlaba has stressed that Syria is among the countries that occupy priority as regards humanitarian aid provided by the Czech Republic.

In a statement to the Czech News Agency on Wednesday, Tlaba said last year his country “sent Syria several aid shipments that mainly included health and medical materials as well as dry children milk”.

He added that the Czech Republic has also worked to help establish alternative housing centers, ensure water, provide health and other kinds of basic services and organize the process of children education.

The Czech diplomat pointed out that due to keeping its embassy in Damascus opened, his country managed to provide good and useful assistance.

 He expected an increase in the budget specialized for humanitarian assistance to reach 130 million Koruna (some 4.8 million Euros). Major part of this budget will go to supporting refugees and the displaced people who stayed in their homeland, he clarified.

Last year, the Czech Republic sent humanitarian aid with a value estimated at more than 100 million koruna, particularly to Iraq, Syria and other countries, Talaba said.

On Monday, Lubomir Zoaralek , the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that his country has constant cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government as to ensure and deliver the Czech humanitarian aid to the Syrian people in different parts of the country.
