DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria and Libya have been facing the same threat for more than six years as the countries that hatched the conspiracy against Syria and Libya continue to support terrorism in both countries, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiya Abbas has stressed.
During her meeting on Monday with a delegation representing Libyan tribes and cities, Abbas said foreign countries intervention in Libya aims at dominating the country’s oil and achieving their own interests, pointing out that despite the terrorist war that have been targeting Syria over the past six years, Syria continues to follow up with great concern the suffering of the Libyan people caused by the so-called International Protection of civilians.
Abbas stressed that Syria has confronted terrorism by the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leader and it has opened the door for dialogue and reconciliation.
On his part, head of the delegation Sheikh Ashraf Abdul Fattah al-Tuwati Abu al-Qasem said that the Libyan tribes and cities salute the legendary steadfastness of the Syrian people, their leadership and army in the confrontation of the global conspiracy.
He added that Syria’s steadfastness and victory over terrorism strongly supports Libya’s steadfastness, asserting the need to enhance the Syrian-Libyan relations.
He affirmed the Libyan tribes support for Syria, noting the importance of benefiting from the Syrian experience in achieving national reconciliation in several areas.
Mikdad: We support Libyan people’s Struggle against terrorists
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad also met the Libyan delegation and expressed to them Syria’s condemnation of the aggression launched against Libya by western colonialist countries’ supported by some allied Gulf states. He pointed out that during this aggression the western countries committed war crimes and crimes against humanity that need to be uncovered in order to punish the parties responsible.
He affirmed Syria’s support for the struggle of the Libyan people against terrorist organizations backed by well known countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey aiming to divide Libya and loot it resources.
