QUNEITRA, (ST) -To support our people in the occupied Golan and enhance their steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation and its aggressive practices that impede the marketing of their agricultural crops, especially apples from the 2012-2013 production, the first shipment of apples from the occupied Syrian Arab Golan arrived yesterday to the homeland.
The operation of transporting the apples from the occupied Syrian Golan to the Syrian motherland took place through the city of Quneitra crossing point and under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The expected amount to be received is about 18 thousand tons throughout 10 weeks.
The Governor of Quneitra, Dr. Malik Muhammad Ali, chairman of the Marketing Committee of Golan Apples stated that all measures and preparations have been taken in the governorate to ease the arrival of the Golan apples to Syrian markets.
He pointed out that the process of buying apples from the occupied Golan comes to support our people and to enhance their steadfastness in the face of the occupation and its aggressive policies that impede the marketing of agricultural crops, particularly the apples crop, the main source of livelihood.
The governor pointed out that buying the apples is one of the ways and means of support provided by the home for our sons in the Golan to strengthen their steadfast, clinging to their land and their Syrian Arab identity in the face of the Israeli practices such as bulldozing agricultural land, uprooting trees, water theft, imposing high taxes on farmers to irrigate crops, raise the prices of pesticides and fertilizers, drying lakes to crack down the life of our people in the occupied villages and fight them in their living in an attempt to discredit the resistance and steadfastness after their insistence on planting the apple tree that represents a challenge for both occupation and systematic violations in the Golan Heights.
For his part, Chairman of the Marketing Committee of Apples in the occupied Golan from the village of Buqata, Sa’id Farhat, confirmed that the process will continue in the coming weeks, the amount will be of two hundred and fifty tons per day. The amount that will pass this year, amounting to 18 thousand tons are the larger compared to previous years, he pointed out.
Member of the Marketing Committee of Apples, who also is a member of the Executive Bureau of the Governorate’s Council, Mowafaq Mashfej, pointed out that selling apples to Syria, the motherland, increases stability of the people in the occupied Golan and their adherence to Arabism and contribute to enhancing the their steadfastness in the face of the Israeli schemes.
