Iraq’s Foreign Minister: ‘What Hurts Syria Hurts Us’

GENEVA, (ST)- Iraq’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari  has stressed the need to strike terrorism wherever it is.

“Iraq is striking terrorism wherever it exists in cooperation with our neighbor, Syria,” al-Jaafari told Syrian media outlets in Geneva on Wednesday, pointing out that “what hurts Syria hurts us”.

“We have been fighting terrorism for years regardless some countries’ stances towards it,” said al-Jaafari, welcoming countries’ understanding of terrorism danger and of the idea of fighting it as a priority.

 He warned that terrorism will affect all if not confronted, stressing that all countries of the world should make combating terrorism their top priority.

He urged not to bet on terrorists because their danger will affect all.

Al-Jaafari  went on to say that his country has called for unifying all national, regional and international efforts against Daesh terrorist organization which poses serious threat to all peoples of the world, noting that some countries have realized this truth very late.
