Russia: Crisis in Syria Expands beyond Country

The crisis  in Syria has begun to expand to other countries, creating a threat to their security, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich warned on Tuesday.

It is also “extremely dangerous” that terrorists increasingly act freely in the trans-frontier area, he said in a comment published on Tuesday, RT reported.

On Monday, 48 servicemen of the Syrian army and nine Iraqi law enforcement agency officers were killed and several wounded in Iraq.

Moscow has condemned this “criminal action committed on Iraqi territory”, Lukashevich said.

Efforts should be stepped up aimed at encouraging a dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition and stopping any violence, he added.
