Damascus (ST)- During the regular session of the Cabinet, Prime Minister Dr. Wa’il Al Halaqi, recently briefed the Cabinet on the efforts being exerted by the ministerial committee in charge of planning and preparing for the process of national dialogue and consultation meetings conducted by the committee with the political parties and forces to develop visions that contribute to provide the requirements of a successful dialogue on the basis of non-violence and resolve the crisis through peaceful and political means.
The Cabinet discussed the reality of distributing petroleum products in Damascus and Damascus countryside and raised abuses and irregularities in the distribution mechanism at the expense of the needs of the citizens and the public interest.
The Cabinet mandated Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Kadri Jamil, to follow-up the file of oil derivatives in Damascus and its countryside and propose the optimal mechanism to control and regulate delivery, distribution and punish negligent and manipulators in this domain.
The Cabinet discussed the economic situation, needs of food and commodities and asked the Economic Committee and the ministries concerned to study local needs and adopting decision for the purchase and import of what the local market needs and ensure the availability of enough storage of these material for coming periods.
