President Al-Assad: Situation in Syria Goes in the Direction Damascus and Moscow Like

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that the situation in Syria goes in the direction Damascus and Moscow like.

He made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with  a delegation of Russian lawmakers led by Dmitry Sablin, the Coordinator of Duma Council Group for Cooperation with the Syrian People’s Assembly.

President Al-Assad thanked Russia for military assistance and for the sacrifices it is offering within the Framework of the war against terrorist organizations in Syria.

He reiterated the Russian Federation’s key role in Syria and the international arena in confronting western schemes that aim at dominating the countries which are adherent to their independence and sovereignty and which are defending the interests of their peoples.

 The president pointed out that the Syrian people is determined to defend their country  and press ahead with national reconciliation process which the best way to end the war and achieve peaceful solution.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Syria, bilateral ties, boosting cooperation in fighting terrorism and in reconstructing what the terrorist war imposed on Syria has destroyed.

Members of the guest delegation affirmed the Russian people’s support for the Syrian people’s struggle against terrorism, noting that they back President Vladimir Putin’s decisions in this regard, because the impacts of the war won’t only affect Syria’s future , but also that of Russia and the entire world.  

The Russian lawmakers expressed Russia’s keenness on providing humanitarian support for the Syrian citizens as to alleviate their suffering caused by the terrorist war they are facing. They underscored the need to unify all efforts as to put an end to this suffering and restore peace and stability to Syria as soon as possible.
