Syria Condemns Zionist Occupation’s Law on Legalizing Settlements in the West Bank

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Syria has condemned the Israeli Knesset’s new law on legalizing settlements in the West Bank, stressing that it allows Israel to steal wider areas of  Palestinian lands, according to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

“The Israeli Knesset’s voting on this law once again proves the successive Israeli governments’ real  expansionist intentions and provides further evidence about Israel’s ignoring of the international law and the UN resolutions which condemn settlement activities in the occupied Arab territories,” the source said.

“Syria reaffirms its  firm principled stance on supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self determination and to establish their independent state on their entire national soil with al-Quds as a capital,” added the source.

On Monday, the Israeli Knesset passed a law that would allow the Zionist regime to “legally” seize Palestinian private land. It would apply to 53 outposts as well as units within existing settlements, potentially legalizing over 3,800 settler units, according to the anti-settlement NGO Peace Now, Press TV reported.

The Israeli law on legalizing construction of settler units in the occupied Palestinian territories has drawn a wave of condemnations from across the world, with the United Nations saying the Israeli regime has crossed a ‘thick red line’.
