DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE – Tens of sons and daughters of martyrs and a number of Syrian Arab Army officers planted on Saturday 1,000 saplings at the site of one of the military formations in Damascus Countryside and called it “Martyr’s Forest”., according to SANA.
The initiative was organized by “The Homeland’s Sky” volunteer team, in cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture.
The participants in the event said the initiative is an expression of adherence to the homeland and readiness to sacrifice everything in its defense.
Director of the Agriculture Directorate of Damascus Countryside Ali Saadat said the event is a message that the Syrian people will triumph and will re-build everything that has been destroyed in this war.
Head of the Board of Directors of the volunteer team, Mazen Mayhoub, noted that planting saplings is also a message that life is still going on in Syria, adding that “Through these trees, we are planting life for every drop of shed blood.”
