Tens of Gunmen in Wadi Barada Area Surrender to Authorities

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- Tens of Gunmen from the villages and towns of Wadi Barada area in Damascus Countryside have got their legal status settled after they turned themselves in to authorities and handed over their weapons.

The procedure comes within the framework of a settlement  agreement reached to evacuate Wadi Barada from gunmen and weapons.

 SANA reporter said on Wednesday that 60 gunmen handed over their light weapons to competent authorities at Deir Qanoun village gate. They have got their legal status settled after they promised not to carry out any kind of activities that harms the security and stability of the homeland.

According to the source, the gunmen yesterday handed their heavy weapons, including mortars and various heavy shells, to authorities.

On Monday, the last batch of gunmen, who refused to join the reconciliation process, left to Idleb together with their families.
