Pope’s Envoy in Damascus: Syria Will Defeat Terrorism

ALEPPO- The Papal Envoy to Syria, Cardinal Mario Zenari affirmed that Pope Francis appreciates and respects the Syrian people, hoping that peace and security would prevail in Syria, the cradle of the heavenly religions, SANA reported.

During a visit to Aleppo, Cardinal Zenari, while receiving the congratulators in Latin Church, said that the visit aims at participating in the atmospheres of joy after defeating terrorism in Aleppo city, offering assistance to the families and performing prayers to protect Syria and its people.

He added that Syria has an important location and a special status in the heart and mind of Pope Francis, pointing out to the necessity of cooperation with the Syrian leadership and people to deepen the culture of life, amity and tolerance in addition to consolidating coexistence in this country.

Zenari affirmed that Syria will achieve triumph over terrorism.
