DAMASCUS, (ST)- A delegation representing the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate led by the Syndicate’s Chairman Tariq Nabarawy started on Thursday a visit to Syria to voice the Egyptian people’s solidarity with the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war, to know about the reality of events in Syria and to hold talks with Syrian officials on economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Friday received the Egyptian guest delegation and underlined the importance of cooperation between the two countries to achieve economic exchange that benefits the interests of the Syrian and Egyptian peoples.
The premier reiterated that Syria will press ahead with the development process despite the difficult circumstances in order to alleviate the war’s impacts on citizens and to rehabilitate the infrastructure damaged by the terrorist acts. He noted the big role of engineers in the process of all-out development in all countries of the world.
Khamis expressed hope that the “Egyptian brothers” will play an effective role in the era of reconstruction in Syria.
On his part, Nabarawy stressed that cooperation with Syria is important to strengthen relations and exchange expertise.
He expressed the willingness of the Egyptian engineers to cooperate with their Syrian counterparts as to face the challenges of the coming era.
The two sides affirmed that signing a cooperation agreement between the Syrian and Egyptian engineers’ syndicates will boost cooperation between the two countries and reactivate the joint committees.
The agreement provides the opportunity for opening branches of Syrian banks in Egypt and a branch of National Bank of Egypt in Syria to achieve the economic partnership between the two brotherly countries.
In a statement to reporters, Nabarawy described his visit to Syria as successful and fruitful as a protocol on economic cooperation was signed between the Engineers’ syndicates of Syria and Egypt.
He pointed out that the delegation met several officials to discuss the participation of the Egyptian companies and Engineers’ Syndicate in reconstruction in Syria, stressing that the Egyptian side will provide all technical support in this respect.
Earlier, the delegation met separately with Assistant Regional Secretary of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal al-Hilal, Minister of Public Works and Housing Hussein Arnous and Head of Syrian Engineers Syndicate Ghiath Qattini. Talks dealt with ways of enhancing cooperation.
