DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)-Maintenance workshops have entered Ein Fijeh town in Wadi Barada area to rehabilitate the water spring there and fix the damage caused by terrorist attacks to water pumps, Governor of Damascus countryside Alaa Ibrahim stressed on Friday, noting that necessary measures will be taken to re-pump water from the spring to Damascus as soon as possible.
Fijeh water Spring in Wadi Barada is the main source of water supplying Damascus.
Following a month-long suffering, water will return to Damascus as maintenance teams will continue working around the clock to fix the damage within days, the governor said.
He revealed that a settlement agreement was reached in Ein Fijeh area thanks to the bravery of the Syrian Arab army, pointing out that the agreement was a pure Syria-Syrian without any foreign interference.
Like other settlement agreements in several Damascus countryside towns, the new deal with Ein Fijeh gunmen says that the gunmen hand over their weapon to authorities and get their legal status settled. Other gunmen, most of them are affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra and don’t want to surrender, will be transferred to Idleb countryside, according to the governor.
He pointed out that there are contacts with some gunmen, who have positions in other areas in Wadi Barada, to urge them to surrender and lay down their weapon with the purpose of cleaning the whole area from gunmen.
