International Community Should Prevent Zionist Enemy from Repeating Terror Attacks on Syria: Foreign Ministry
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Israeli enemy’s new aggression on the Syrian territories was part of the Israeli attacks that target the Syrian sovereignty and independence and such attacks wouldn’t be happened without the direct support of the outgoing American administration as well as the French and British governments, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
Addressing the UN Chief and President of the Security Council on Friday in two identical letters regarding the new Israeli aggression on Mezzeh military airport west of Damascus in the early hours of Friday, January 13, 2017, the ministry said the Israeli repeated attacks on Syria’s sovereignty have been orchestrated in the circles of the Israeli, French, British and US intelligence in cooperation with their agents in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar and other countries that sought imposing hegemony on Syria and the entire region.
The ministry explained that Israeli warplanes at midnight fired several missiles from northern Tiberias Lake area. The missiles fell in the surroundings of al-Mezzeh airport causing huge fire in the area. A military source said the enemy’s new attack aimed to support the terrorist organizations and raise their morale after their successive defeats.
The Israeli attacks came as the terrorist organizations in Syria are suffering defeats in northern, central and southern regions and after successful reconciliation processes have been achieved in several Syrian provinces, according to the ministry’s letters.
The ministry affirmed that uncovering the Israeli role in the terrorist war on Syria and the new aggression on the Syrian lands necessitates the international community, the UN General Secretariat and the Security Council to adopt immediate deterrent procedures to punish the Israeli aggressor and prevent it from repeating such attacks.
The ministry also urged the international community to put pressure on Israel as to stop its direct support for the terrorist organizations in Syria and to shoulder it responsibility towards implementing international resolutions against Israel.
The ministry concluded the letters by saying that Syria warns “Israel” against launching such attacks on its sovereignty and affirms that it won’t stop fighting terrorism in accordance with Security Council resolution 2253 and will spare no effort as to reach a peaceful settlement to the crisis in Syria.
