Premier Khamis inspects Aleppo’s neighborhoods, meets Governorate and City Councils members

Aleppo – Prime Minister Imad Khamis affirmed that the government has an ambitious and big work plan with clear timeframes for Aleppo that will be announced at the end of the government delegation’s visit to the city.

During an inspecting tour of Aleppo’s neighborhood on Monday conducted by Khamis and the accompanying government delegation, Khamis said that the delegation has started holding meetings to evaluate the situation, the requirements and what we will do during the next phase in completion of the victory of our armed forces in the liberation of the city of Aleppo from terrorism, SANA reported.

Primer Khamis pointed out that the destruction caused to places of worship, Aleppo Citadel, and neighborhoods by terrorist organizations shows the terrorists’ hatred and their plans to undermine Syria’s history and culture.

Khamis saluted the Syrian Army and Armed Forces for their great achievements in the war on terrorism and congratulated Aleppo’s citizens, all of Syria, and all honest people in the world over the victory of Aleppo.

On a relevant note, Interior Minister Mohammad al-Shaar said in a statement during the visit to the neighborhoods that there are several steps being taken to protect Aleppo, expand security in its surroundings, ward off terrorism and shelling, and secure the safe return of locals to their homes.

He said that these steps will facilitate the return of normal life to the city, affirming that the government will provide security to commercial and industrial areas as of January, adding that Interior Security Forces and Aleppo Police Command personnel are working in great numbers to achieve this goal.

Later, Premier Khamis and the delegation met with members of the Governorate and City Councils and organizations and unions in the city.

During the meeting, Khamis said that one of the government’s priorities for Aleppo is providing necessary services including water, electricity, and road networks, as well as re-launching production, developing the city’s zoning, and improving education services.

He said that the meeting seeks to find new visions to provide the best possible services to citizens, and that funding is open according to the priorities set by zoning plans, stressing the need for preserving the public sector to revitalize industry and support factories, in addition to helping the private sector and all those who want to push industrial work forward.

The Prime Minister said that a work team will be formed to review the status of damaged factories and provide facilitations to its owners, as well as providing loans to those who wish to begin production, adding that work teams have also been formed to assess the state of tourist facilities and historical landmarks, in addition to addressing relief work.

The participants in the meeting called for providing water, electricity, and fuel, clearing debris, rebuilding, returning displaced citizens, improving consumer protection work, rebuilding and caring for the marketplaces in the Old City, restoring schools, and organizing random housing areas, among other issues.

For his part, Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz said that 25,000 schools bags have been provided for students in Aleppo along with 4,000 school desks and the necessary textbooks, adding that there’s a plan for restoring 50 schools in liberated neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, Public Works and Housing Minister Hussein Arnous said that 100 heavy engineering vehicles are working to clear the debris from the city, and that work is underway to provide machinery to recycle debris.

In turn, Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf said that the Ministry cleared SYP 2.6 billion in compensations for distribution.

Khamis and a number of ministers also visited the Military Hospital of Aleppo, hoping the injured soldiers quick recovery.
