Premier Lays Foundation Stone of a Number of Projects in Lattakia

LATTAKIA-Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the projects of rebuilding Ibrahim Naameh Hospital in Jableh city in Lattakia, with an overall cost of SYP 1.23 billion and Faqi Hassan Dam in Ras al-Basit coastal area in the northern countryside of Lattakia with a cost of SYP 3 billion and a capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters, according to SANA.

As he listened to the demands of citizens, Premier Khamis said the government accords great attention to securing the needs of martyrs’ families, revealing that the government is currently working on devising a mechanism for providing jobs for their families.

 Khamis also laid the foundation stone for the project of rehabilitating Hmeimim airport runway, with an overall cost of SYP 4.45 billion, and opened the project of Fares Shahine knot which connects Kassab-Lattakia Highway with al-Shabatlieh village.

Minister of Water Resources Nabil al-Hassan said in a statement to journalists that Faqi Hassan dam is projected to provide drinking water for the locals numbered 45 thousands, which rises to 200 thousands in summer as the area is a tourist destination, and to irrigate 300 hectares during winter.

Earlier, Premier Khamis said that the Government focuses on launching a productive and developmental process in all spheres despite its limited resources due to the war of terrorism and the unilateral economic sanctions imposed on the country.

Khamis, meeting members of al-Hiffah municipality, said the government allocated a sum of SYP 20 million to the municipality from the budget of the Local Administration to improve the services there, in addition to allocating a sum between five to ten millions to support some towns in the countryside of Hiffah which were affected by terrorism in accordance to the priority of the population density and the percentage of sabotage inflicted on them.

For his part, Interior Minister Mohammad al-Sha’ar pointed out to the importance of the meeting which proves the adherence of al-Hiffah area’s locals to their national unity as an example that contributes to bolstering the resilience of Syria.
